On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, Crystal Reid and her boy, Willys, won Best in Specialty Show under Judge Karen Martin at the Great Dane Club of Arizona's Specialty in Phoenix, AZ. Willys now has the distinction of being the very first uncropped/natural-earred black Great Dane to be awarded an AKC Best in Specialty Show.

With the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey on the Texas Gulf Coast, many state and national organizations have taken steps to rescue and care for pets affected by the storm. There are several organizations where you can donate to aid animal rescue and relief efforts, and where you can help serve as a foster for misplaced and lost pets from the storm. Contact your local AKC affiliate clubs as well for more info on helping the pets of Hurricane Harvey.
If you learn of more charities that need assistance with disaster relief efforts, please comment them on this blog.
Recently, there have been multiple reported cases of canine influenza in dogs that have been shown across certain parts of Texas, as well as many more in North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Virginia, and Georgia. Many Texas breed clubs and all-breed clubs have either postponed or cancelled upcoming shoes. With the Texas/Oklahoma "Death-March" coming up, we want you to be aware of the symptoms associated with canine influenza as well as what you can do to help prevent the spread of the virus. With anything, having correct information from expert and reputable sources is critical. Here are some sources to reference to better educate yourself about this highly contagious virus.
